Description

Fully Remote, Coast to Coast

Peloton is a fully remote company — there's no office to relocate for, no expectation of "a few days a week." Our team is spread across Canada, and we've built our tools, meetings, and culture around that. Wherever in Canada you call home, that's where you'll work.

About Peloton Technologies

At Peloton Technologies, we’re transforming the payments landscape for small businesses and enterprises alike. Our platform helps business owners manage payments, optimize cash flow, and streamline operations — from seamless point-of-sale transactions to enterprise payment solutions. By building smarter, more connected payments infrastructure, we make it easier for businesses to thrive.

Founded in 2010 on Vancouver Island, Peloton has grown into a national brand with a team working remotely across Canada. Our culture is grounded in five core values — Teamwork, Respect, Trust, Innovation, and Passion — that shape how we collaborate and make decisions.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Software Development, you will design, develop, and test financial applications, independently creating small features and contributing to medium-sized features with support from other developers. Collaborating with the team, you’ll help determine solutions for end users’ needs and work with end user requirements to design and develop code that delivers effective solutions. By applying common design and architectural patterns, you’ll help enhance software structure and functionality while developing and maintaining adequate tests to ensure code correctness and reliability.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their development career who’s eager to learn and grow. You bring a passion for coding and a commitment to best practices, along with good communication skills and a genuine willingness to pick up new tools and technologies. You enjoy working closely with a team and bringing your own ideas to the table.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Contributions and Expertise
  • Write clean and efficient code and practice the software development lifecycle with supervision from the team.
  • Determine possible solutions to the end users' needs with assistance from colleagues.
  • Work with end user requirements, designing and developing code to create solutions.
  • Apply common design and architectural patterns with direction from the team.
  • Write adequate tests to ensure the correctness of code.
  • Learn at least one technical area (eg. web application development, database design, API integration, etc.).
  • Continuously improve technical skills and stay updated on emerging technologies.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to write, debug, refactor, and test code.
  • Maintain an experimental mindset, trying AI-assisted approaches on their own work and comparing against writing by hand.
  • Share learnings on AI-assisted workflows and ask questions when results are unclear.

Ownership and Collaboration
  • Responsible for the development and testing of their own code.
  • Participate in the code review process for learning and improving code quality.
  • Collaborate with the Development team and receive support and supervision from team members as needed.
  • Produce content for documents, guides, and manuals for internal applications, development processes, and operating processes for current and future team members.

Mentorship and Team Building
  • Receive mentorship from senior team members.
  • Understand and participate in a respectful team culture.

Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience gained in co-op programs or summer placements beneficial
  • Experience with web development, databases, and programming

Knowledge
You don't need experience with every item listed below; familiarity with similar or equivalent technologies is welcome.
